Hi, I’m Sheng Xu.

Welcome to my page!

I'm a PhD Student at Tufts University. My research focuses on numerical modeling of Wealth Distibution across the countries and combines a variety of skills including numerical linear algebra, Partial Differential Equation, Data Analysis, etc.

I received my Bachelor's degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2015, major in Materials Science and Economics. I received my Master's degree at Tufts in 2017, major in Mathematics and went on for a Doctoral degree under the supervision of Dr. Bruce Boghossian.

I play Go(Board Game).

Currently playing for Boston in American Go Association City League.
Former board member of Shanghai Collegiate Go League.

Power of Data

I believe in the power of Data to help solve many issues that can not be theoretically explained. While the methodologies of machine learning and data science still have a long way to improve from my opinion, I'm excited to study different ideas and their application.
I also taught a few related courses at Tufts for both Mathematics and Computer Science Department.

Enthusiastic in New Knowledge and Education Equality

I have degrees in Engineering, Economics and Mathematics. I also earned more than 50 certificates from Coursera.
During my undergraduate years, I helped build and maintain the MOOC platform of my University. I believe MOOC is an effective way to share knowledge and improve the equality in Education.

Updates

For Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, I'll be the PhD TA for Machine Learning at CS Department. I'll lead weekly in-class discussions and office hours as well as help homework design to deliver a good virtual-class experience.

Covid19: Wear mask and Save lives!

For Summer 2020, I'll join Amazon as a Research Scientist Intern. I'll be exploring the value of Amazon Origins for Amazon and Prime members with Machine Learning Methodologies and Econometrics.
